What is teal solar?

Did you choose a teal independent?

What is 'teal' solar?

It took me a while to figure out exactly what they were, the so-called teals. As I discovered, they are a bit like 'green' Liberals, IE greenish blue. Green mixed with blue is teal, or something like that. It also turns out they are strongly aligned with Climate 200, which makes sense.

You see, when the solar industry first began in Australia in the 2000s (or earlier) it was primarily an environmental pursuit. Things changed a few years ago when it became overwhelmingly financially prudent for a homeowner to install solar, regardless of the environmental benefit. I remember getting my first accountant customer, who was impressed with the Return On Investment [ROI] on the solar system, as compared with other forms of investment. The ROI, from memory, was around 20% p.a. for this gentleman. He was the first person to explain solar in these terms, and I recall this was around 2010.

But there are still laggards; people who, despite the clear financial and environmental benefits of solar in most cases, refuse to acknowledge that renewable energy is all-round a great idea. And on a larger, nation-wide scale, too.

Enter the 'teal' candidates. In simple terms, people who don't fit the environmentalist stereotype, but have managed to reconcile their financial astuteness with their passion for a renewable energy future.

We are seeing more and more customers from traditional 'blue' electorates, who are fully backing their own personal transition to renewables. You see ... solar power has always been 'teal'. The perfect way to be environmentally aware while making money!

SkyGreen, too, is committed to action on climate change, embracing the economic benefits of the transition to renewable energy.
